Rudders help control the direction of your kayak in windy conditions or currents.
Kayak rudders are controlled by moving paddlers foot rest pedals (for direction) and a control line mounted by the cockpit to lift & lower the rudder.

Perception rudder is an efficient overstern rudder system that lifts easily from the water for beaching and transport.
It can be fitted as an optional extra to all Perception touring kayaks.
Kit includes the Tip Toe Foot rest system required to operate the rudder as pictured.

Venture Kayaks Smart Track Rudder System
This low profile design stows the blade vertically which creates much less wind resistance via the small blade area.
Its strong, lightweight construction weighs less than 500g (1.1lb) and with few moving parts it keeps the unit nice and simple.
The one cord retraction system gives it its name.
Suitable for use with the Venture Kayaks Easky & Orca range of touring kayaks.
The Smart Track rudder is compatible with the standard "twist lock" foot pedals that come as standard on all Venture Kayaks, but the foot pedals do have to remain in the unlocked position.
