Pelican Touring 17 Canadian Canoe Formerly known as the Coleman Odyssey and before that the Coleman RAMX17 this 17' family canoe has been around to many years. The hull construction is RAMX which is tough and extremely hard wearing and the three seats and keel bar complete the fit out. The Pelican 17 has a bigger payload than the Pelican 15 and is an easier boat to paddle. All Canadian Canoes are less stable than an open cockpit kayaks like the Perception Kiwi 2 and canoes require more skill to paddle well. Similarly longer Canadian Canoes are less tippy and track better than their shorter counterparts.
If it is your intention to paddling a canoe well it will take more practice and application than a kayak. Pelican Touring 17 is a firm favourite with those that paddle and camp over.
This canoe car tops easily on standard Thule roof bars but should be tied down to the front towing eye to prevent the canoe lifting whilst driving. Length 5.3m | Width 96cm | Weight 37kg | Capacity 408kg
