Upgrade / Repair Worn Bearing Systems on the MD180

Some Hobie Mirage Drive 180 users find that the sprockets and bearing system can wear and degrade over time. This wear can be accelerated by incorrectly tensioned chains and a lack of flushing out the sprocket system after use, where a build up of debris can cause further wear. In some cases the stock Hobie delrin bearing can disintegrate and the plastic sprocket shaft and raceway can wear and fail.  

The BerleyPro Drive Bro Bearing Kit upgrades and repairs worn bearing and bearing housings. This kit replaces the plastic bearing housing with a CNC-machined marine anodised aluminium housing. A ceramic bearing with aluminium shaft inserts into the existing sprocket to take the frictional load and wear off the plastic sprocket. This eliminates inadvertant wear and tear and results in a smoother pedalling experience. 

The anodised finish offers corrosion-resistance and the housing features drainage holes for better flushing through of debris. The kit is easy to service and maintain, with replacement ceramic bearings also available should one get damaged. 

This kit is for the rear sprocket bearings and housing. BerleyPro are also developing replacement sprockets and center bearings/housing and will be due soon!
