Sit On Top Kayaks, also known as SOTs, are a type of kayak where the paddler sits on top of a moulded seat area on the deck, rather than sitting down inside a cockpit as you would with a more traditional sit-in kayak. In general, Sit On Tops are easy to paddle, and tend to have good stability with self-bailing designs thanks to moulded-in scupper holes that allow water to drain from the deck. They are easy to enter and exit too - you simply climb on and off. This makes Sit On Top Kayaks a great choice for first-time paddlers!
