Coastal Touring Kayak

The Wave Sport Hydra 145 brings together a performance touring hull design with outfitting elements taken from Wave Sport's renowned whitewater range. This combination gives a high-performance touring kayak for those wanting to take on big day adventures. The hull cuts smoothly through flat water yet has enough hull rocker to play in the surf and power through coastal waters. A drop-down skeg offers improved straight line tracking capabilities for touring and is useful to counter strong winds, but can easily be retracted when you want extra manoeuvrability and some fun in the swell and waves!

Fitted with Wave Sports CORE WhiteOut outfitting including adjustable back band and thigh pads along with a ratcheting leg lifter on the front of the seat so you can get support under your thighs just right. The Hydra offers superb connectivity with the hull for maximum performance and plenty of comfort for long days paddling. There are two models available - a standard volume to suit medium-to-large sized paddlers and a LV (low-volume) model to suit small-to-medium sized paddlers.

The Hydra comes stacked with features including bow and stern hatches with bulkheads, an easy access day hatch in front of the cockpit, adjustable footrests, a security bar, deck bungees and even YakAttack GearTrac on the rear deck for easy attachment of accessories such as camera poles or even a rod holder!

Standard Construction

A single layer of High-density Polyethylene (HDPE) for a great combination of durability and strength, at a great price! Great for general recreational paddling.

Trifuse Construction

A triple-layer construction of super linear HDPE polyethylene with a foam PE core. This creates a stiffer, lighter and more responsive hull. Great for those wanting the best performance for regular paddling use.
