The hard shelled PressLock hatch covers are slightly domed so shed water very nicely, they also help to increase the structural integrity of the deck and will not implode in the case of excess pressure on any of the hatches. The delta 17 paddles just as well empty of loaded so it works well if you are out for just a few hours afloat, planning a weekend overnighter or heading off for multi-day expedition paddling trips.
