The Design Kayaks Awesome is ideal for experienced and progressing paddlers who are looking for a kayak that surfs very well, is agile amongst the rocks, very capable in complex and lively seas and is even comfortable for flat-water cruising.

The Design Kayaks Awesome has a pronounced rocker profile particularly at the stern which makes it highly manoeuvrable and high performing. There is less rocker at the bow and it has a long waterline, this gives it a good turn of speed and great tracking. It is a fantastic choice for instructors and thrill seekers!

At 4.75 (15ft 5in), the Design Kayaks Awesome is a mid-length and fairly low-profile kayak with a pronounced bow line. Our experience of paddling it showed barely any weather cocking even in strong winds it tracks straight with minimal effort with just a small amount of skeg in lively and windy seas. Paddling it on open water, in what many would see as challenging conditions, the Awesome behaved impeccably and really proved to be awesome! Paddling along the coast it felt very precise and reassuring amongst rocks and it absolutely excels in the surf zone.

The flattened bottom of the hull under the cockpit gives the Design Kayaks Awesome plenty of stability and provides a great surface for riding surf or catching wave trains on downwind runs. The distinctive soft-chined shoulders respond well to edging and combined with the low stern deck Awesome is a dream to roll. Carefully designed cutaways either side of the foredeck enable those high angle power strokes without catching the side of the hull with your paddle. The skeg slider is absolutely flush with the hull and placed well out of the way of paddle strokes yet within easy reach. Just a little pressure on the button and the sprung design lets the skeg down effortlessly. The Awesome has a lightweight carbon seat and a backrest that is easily adjusted via a unique ratchet system so you can get just the right tension. The thigh braces are made extra wide providing excellent connectivity at all times.
