Short Sea Kayak for Day Trips
At 15ft in length, the Composite Virgo is a shorter sea kayak that is well-suited to day paddling along UK coastlines. Not everyone is heading out on multiday expeditions in challenging conditions, and for those just wanting to go out paddling on the sea for the day in a range of environnments or have a quick overnight/weekend trip, the Virgo Composite will make a great choice. Combined with a forgiving and relatively stable hull design, the Virgo Composite suits those who just want that touch of comfort as they paddle, but in a hull that can perform in a range of sea conditions when needed, be it cruising on calm waters, handling some choppy seas, playing around rock gardens or riding a wave.
The Composite Virgo features a V-Hull for beautiful tracking and a sharp entry that cleanly cuts through the water. The V softens towards the centre for increased stability and easier release. The moderate rocker and fairly steep bow entry and steeper stern entry provides a longer effective waterline length, providing good forwards speed from the 15ft hull, yet put it on edge and you have plenty of manoevurability and control for precision positioning of the hull. The bow has just enough flare to provide lift and ride high in choppy waters. Fancy a surf? The Virgo features hard chines that allow you to engage with a wave face and carve effortlessly. This is a superb option for those looking for a versatile sea kayak that will perform well in typical coastal conditions, in a craft that provides reassuring comfort and ease of handling for general day adventures.
Outfitted with all the features you can expect from a top-spec modern sea kayak. Featuring a classic drop-down skeg for fine tracking control. The bow deck features secure storage for a spare split paddle up on the bow, with a recess to accomodate a Silva 70p compass. The Virgo is equipped with full deck lines and bungees. Available in several advanced composite constructions including Performance Kevlar/Diolen to Expedition Carbon/Kevlar and Ultralight Foam-Core Carbon/Kevlar with full customisation options.
